Steve Bloom Wildlife Photography - Steve Bloom has many highly detailed action photos of Africa, the Antarctic, marine mammals and more. You have to check out his "favorites" section for some of the best animal action shots I've seen outside of National Geographic.

Marcelo Clemente - There are not a lot of photos on this site, but the ones that are here are crisp and interesting. The birds section is the most complete but there are some interesting shots in mammals and reptiles as well.

Keay Wildlife Photography - This site has a wide variety of animal photographs from birds of prey to North American mammals. There are even some marine mammal photographs.

Lucid Images - This photo gallery includes mammals of North America, birds of North America and Alaska. The gallery has some great macro photography of birds.

Zoltan Takacs Photography - Dr. Zoltan Takacs has lots of great photographs of animals from snakes to bugs to African mammals.

African Wildlife Foundation - Learn about some of Africa's wilderness areas and wildlife. Find out the best spots to see the animals you've always dreamed of. If you can't travel, they have some great photos! You can plan your safari with their safari planner.

Kruger National Park - Kruger National Park has information about some of the inhabitants. Buffalo, cheetah, hyena, leopard, lion, baboon, elephant, hippopotamus, zebra and other interesting creatures can be found there.

Africat - This is a great site on African cats like leopards and lions. There is a lot of information, an adoption program and some nice photos.

Naomi's Animal Facts - Detailed information about several African species including hippos, zebras and giraffes. You can learn habitat, gestation and behaviors. This site also has some great photos.

Africam - Live webcams of some African locations. You have to register to use the site but registration is free.

Australian Animals "Australian Animals"


Unique Australian Animals - This is an excellent page with detailed information about many Australian species. You can find information on habitat, behavior, location, reproduction and the animal's status in the wild.

Australia Zoo - Australia Zoo is the home of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. Australia Zoo also works as a rehabilitation center. They have some information and photos of some of the native wildlife they have on exhibit or have rehabilitated.

Wildlife of Tasmania - The Tasmanian Islands have some of the most unique wildlife in the world including the Tasmanian devil, wombat, playtpus, eastern quoll and pademelon. You can find all about them and the island itself through the parks service.

Australian Wildlife Information - This site has some interesting news articles about Australian wildlife and some species profiles. The science reports are most interesting and can clue you in on things like endangered species and interesting animal studies being done in Australia.

Australian Platypus Conservancy  - One of the most interesting animals in the world has its own conservancy! This site has lots of interesting information about the platypus.

North and South American Animals "North and South American Animals"


Animal Diversity Web - Not just for North American animals, this is a very comprehensive database of animals from all over the world. This site includes facts about habitat, characteristics and conservation for each animal. There are also many photos.

Desert Animals - Get detailed fact sheets on many North American desert animals on this site. Learn about special adaptations animals and plants have made to live in the dry weather.

National Wildlife Federation - Facts on preserving North American wildlife and some information about the wildlife. The "Take Action" section has interesting ideas for furthering conservation.

Animals of the Rainforests - Fact sheets on animals from rainforests from all around the world, especially South American rainforests. Reptiles, mammals, amphibians, insects and fish are included.

Amazon Adventure - Geared towards kids, this site offers great photos and information for any age. Information is on Amazon mammals, insects, birds and reptiles.

Domestic & Pet Animals "Domestic & Pet Animals"


Birds N Ways - A guide to all exotic birds. They have information on many species's care, breeding and showing.

Exotic Pets - Find articles and links about those pets who need special care. Included is information about rabbits, ferrets, reptiles and amphibians, rodents, pot bellied pigs, insects, spiders, hermit crabs, sugar gliders, wolfdogs and a variety of other exotic species.

Fish: The Krib - A comprehensive aquaria site. They have plans for DIY projects, information about disease, water chemistry and aquarium setup.

Healthy Pet - The American Animal Hospital Association's site features a list of AAHA-accredited hospitals and a comprehensive library of pet care articles to keep your pet healthy and happy.

Pet Reptiles  - Find care sheets for some common and some not so common reptiles. They also have some great photos and a forum.

American Zoo and Aquarium Association - The AZA is the organization that gives accreditation to zoos and aquariums. Find a list of accredited zoos, zoo news, jobs, photos and more.

Tennessee Aquarium - The TN Aquarium is not only one of the best aquariums in the nation, but also has one of the best websites. Find lots of information about their underwater inhabitants on their site.

Zoos Worldwild - A list of zoos, aquariums and animal parks all over the world. The site also has some reviews.

The National Zoo - The National Zoo has an excellen site with many webcams. You can check out some of their exhibts from your own home!

Good Zoos - Read reviews of zoos or add a review. It doesn't seem to have a huge database of zoos but it does have information about zoos all over the world and in almost every US state.

Animal Rights "Animal Rights"


American Humane Society - The AHS mission is to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and animals. This site has information about pet adoption, care, animal cruelty laws and animal "action" alerts.

Animal Legal Defense Fund - This organization furthers animal rights by through the laws. Founded by lawyers, they provide legal assistance, lobbying, education and maintain a database of anti-cruelty statutes.

Animal Protection Institute - You can read all the latest animal cruelty headlines on this site. You can also read about API's work to make better lives for animals.

In Defense of Animals - In Defense of Animals (IDA) is a national, non-profit organization based in Mill Valley, California that is dedicated to ending the exploitation and abuse of animals by defending their rights, welfare and habitats.

PETA - PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is a controversial animal rights group. However controversial, they do have some good tips on becoming vegan, interesting articles and a unique viewpoint.
