Abandonware "Abandonware"


Abandon Rom - Most sites which collect abandonware(full commercial games approx 10 years old)will have some broken links.However,the good news is that this site is highly rated by most of its users because it has so few.If you are looking for the classics such as Doom,Transport Tycoon etc then this is for you.

Disc World - This has over 3500 abandonware games, across a wide variety of platforms ready for download. They include classics such as Monkey Island, Alex Kidd, Harvest Moon, Caeser and Warcraft.

Flashback - A great game site spoiled only by the number of pop ups. If you can put up with them, then you will stumble across such classics as Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego and Championship Manager. Persevere through the pop ups-it is worth your while!

Old Games - Hails itself as the "ultimate abandonware place." It certainly lives up to this except that it has a rather unique points system which you must join before you can download anything. As ever I would recommend an unused e-mail account, despite their assurance of spam free

Home of the Underdogs - Clear, well laid out site with links to a multitude of downloadable abandonware, many of which were unknown to me. The ability to search alphabetically or by genre, is a simple, but helpful addition to the site.

Freeware Gamer - The site is well laid out, with easy to follow links to a wide variety of downloadable free ware games. Covers a multitude of styles and platforms including windows 95, 98 and XP.The site also has a few direct links to abandon games if you sign up for their newsletter.

Game Hippo - Hippo's are certainly large beasts and this site is well named.Well laid out,it also gives an in depth review of the freeware games,before you download. This review includes user ratings, number of players,child safe ratings along with some invaluable links (such as cheat finder,user manuals etc.)

Absolute Freeware - This site is quite small and has a limited number of freeware games, but many are small files (good for modem connections) or they will copy the larger files and post them to you on a CD rom.

Freeware Arcade - True arcade style action from this site, with a variety of genres and games. In addition it also has a small but growing selection of unique games in other categories all of which encourage the developers of tomorrow.

Online Freeware Games "Online Freeware Games"


Arcade Outpost - This collection has it all. Whether you are looking for action, puzzles, classic (Asteroids, Bomberman, Minesweeper), racing, sports or strategy then you can't go wrong by making this your first (and last) outpost. Just don't get caught playing online games when you should be working!

Arcade Vault - Classic games with a strange and funny twist. If you are looking for "hang the man", you will play Hangaroo (make sure the sound is turned on) or you can opt for Sonic (the hedgehog) pinball. A good selection of online java games to help you while away the hours

Orisinal Games - A simple site with simple games. However, don't let that simplicity fool you. Some are tough, some are incredibly easy, all are addictive. As an added bonus all the online games are kid safe.
