LDS - Latter-day Saints / "Mormons" "LDS - Latter-day Saints / "Mormons""

Official Site of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - This is the single best source of in-depth information on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) online today.

Basic Beliefs of the LDS/Mormon Church - Is this your first experience with the LDS/Mormon church? Are you investigating different churches in order to find one to attend? THIS is the link for you!

Family History - Families are very important in the LDS/Mormon culture. Sure, kings and presidents have a lot of family records; but EVERY person has a family history. This is a superb place to start or continue your search. I have!

Provident Living - Managing your resources, food storage, emergency preparedness and education are only some of the topics covered at this site, that enables anyone to provide better for themselves, their families and those less fortunate than themselves.

Brigham Young University - Named for the 2nd President of the Church, this university is so much more than its football team, which has sent the likes of Jim McMahon, Steve Young and Ty Detmer to the pros. With strong ties to the LDS Church, BYU has a strict code of conudct for its students, faculty and staff.

LDS - History "LDS - History"

LDS Church History - Why not go straight to the source? History is very important to the Latter-day Saints (or Mormons): the are fantastic record-keepers.

LDS Historic Sites - When people hear "Mormon", they think Salt Lake City, Utah. And Salt Lake does have a great many Mormon historical sites. But so do locations important in earlier church history, in Nauvoo, IL and Kirtland, OH, to name but two.

LDS People and Family History - The LDS people believe families can be together forever. It's like testing links on a web page...you want to make sure all the connections are in the right place! Many people know about the Family History Library in Utah, but how many know there are satellite libraries in many other cities.

Mormon History Association - I don't believe this is an official Church site but they seem very thorough. I'm sure if the information you want is NOT here, they would be able to point you in the right direction!

Mormons and Polygamy - This topic had to come up sooner or later. For a while polygamy was a part of the mainstream church; many splinter/dissenter groups do still practice polygamy even today. This site's author's concern, presented in fairly unbiased terms, is when the LDS Church abandoned this practice.

LDS Missionary Talks by General Authorities - While members are not 'required' to serve missions, there is a strong call to do so. Most missionaries serve in the mission field for 1-1/2 to 2 years, away from their families. This page has a list of links to talks given by church officials on this subject.

Every Member a Missionary - More and more authorities in "the Church" state that the success of the full-time missionaries depend on members sharing their faith with friends. This page seems to be geared towards church leaders, but can also be used by the members looking for ways to become a missionary themselves.

22 Suggestions for a Successful Mission - A simple, practical list from a returned missionary (RM) on how to serve a successful (full-time)mission in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Resources for Mormon Missionaries - Are you now or shortly going to be a missionary? Is someone in your family in the mission field? You need to see this site's great resources and links to information both in the LDS Church and outside of it.

World's Best non-LDS Missionary Programs - I was very impressed that a member of a church so known for its missionary program and efforts would compile a list of the best missionary programs outside of his/her own church. I found the site informative and will visit it again myself for ideas for me.

LDS - Scriptures  "LDS - Scriptures "

LDS Scripture - The Bible - Old Testament - There are, of course, many versions of the Bible online, in different languages or different styles of the same language. My personal preference has always been the King James Version, which is what is used in LDS Churches.

LDS Scripture - The Bible - New Testament - Companion to the King James Version of the Old Testament of the Bible, the New Testament deals with the ministries of Jesus Christ and his disciples on the earth.

LDS Scriptures - The Book of Mormon - Most people believe that Jesus's ministry was limited to areas around Jerusalem 2000 years ago. Mormons believe Christ also appeared in America around the time of His crucifixion. The Book of Mormon is an account of the work of Jesus amongst one of His lost tribes.

LDS Scriptures - The Doctrine and Covenants - Here are the further revelations that have guided the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since before its inception, in 1823, until the present day, the last addition being in 1978.

LDS Scripture - The Pearl of Great Price - Joseph Smith, the first prophet of this dispensation, began several other translations of ancient scripture, that were not able to be completed, due to his martyrdom for his beliefs.
