The Religious Movements Page: Alphabetic Listing of Group Profiles - Fabulous compilation of dozens of world religions. Click on a link of interest and it takes you to a page outlining that group's current profile, beliefs, controversies, and related website links. Does not use hot-button words like "cult" or "sect."

Religions, Faith Groups, Ethical Systems, etc. - Despite the preponderance of advertising, ReligiousTolerance.org is an excellent layman's resource for learning more about religion. This page outlines not only the most common world religions but some lesser-known ones as well, with little to no bias.

comparative religion - Provides a very basic but informative explanation of several of the major world religions, briefly touching on some of the minor or "alternative" faiths. This site was launched in June 2003 and is a work in progress but, despite that, is very well put together.

Bible Gateway - Performs either a passage search or a word search in sixteen different versions of the Christian Bible or any combination thereof, in twenty-nine different languages.

Navigating The Bible II - Developed by World ORT, this is an online version of the Five Books of Moses (the "Jewish Bible") presented in English, Russian, and Spanish. Designed to assit in preparation for the bar or bat mitzvah, and includes a section with the original Hebrew text and sound clips of verses sung in Hebrew.

The Noble Qu'ran - Includes three translations of the Qu'ran, an Arabic transliteration, a search feature, and several commentaries. The site warns that this is not the "literal" word of God in Islam unless it is in the original Arabic, so it's useful to remember this is only an approximation.

The Ramayana and Mahabharata - Two major sacred texts of Hinduism. The Bhagavad-Gita, which outlines some of the core beliefs and values of Hinduism, comes from the Ramayana. This work was translated by R. Dutt Tr.

Upanishads - Table of Contents - Another important sacred text of Hinduism which clarifies some of the major Vedic doctrines such as yoga, karma, and reincarnation. This work was translated by F. Max Muller.

American Civil Liberties Union: Religious Liberty - The ACLU's Religious Liberty page explains their position on religious freedom and provides articles and resource links about the issue of religious freedom in the United States.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State - Activist organization in the U.S. providing educational, legal, and advocacy resources for Americans interested in keeping religion and government separate.

First Amendment Center: Religious Liberty - The Freedom Forum's web page about American religious liberty issues, specializing in religious freedom issues in public forums and in public schools.

Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance - Religious freedom organization based in Canada which not only covers religious freedom issues but also educates the visitor about many different religious beliefs and practices.
